I needed a kick in the pants. After months of preparation and planning a major event at work was finished and I was a exhausted. Yesterday, I took time of to rest, restore and refocus on what matter most (God, family, creativity and community)
Today there are thank you notes to be written, a 252 message inbox to attack, and projects to tackle. Honestly, I wanted to prolong my rest and craft the day away. I needed a bit of motivation and I found it in my She Reads Truth study this morning.
My morning ritual is to brew a pot of coffee (currently pumpkin spice), light a candle and learn along side the SRT ladies. I savor every quiet moment in the morning that I can listen, breathe and begin my day right.
Currently She Reads Truth is doing a study on the book of James. Today’s focus was James 1:19-26. One of the things I love the most about the bible is that each of us react and respond differently to what we read. Today as I read James this verse jumped right off the page…
“Whoever catches a glimpse of the revealed counsel of God—the free life!—even out of the corner of his eye, and sticks with it, is no distracted scatterbrain but a man or woman of action. That person will find delight and affirmation in the action.” James 1:25
I desire to be a women of the Lord, and to be a women of the Lord is to be a women of action.
Don’t confuse action with busyness or what society defines as success. When we further dig into truth we see that REAL action is…
The devotional today ended with this:
This is the challenge, friends: we can’t just read Truth, we have to live Truth.
We can’t just skim passages. We have to plant them in us.
We can’t just speed read verses. We have to do what they say.
We can’t look at our faces in the mirror every morning and memorize who we are in Him, then go out into the world and immediately forget what we look like.
When we forget who we are in the Word, who we are in Him, the gap just gets wider and wider.
But it doesn’t have to.
Today, and every day, Jesus is waiting for us without an outstretched arm.
Let’s follow the Word.
Let’s follow Him and avoid catastrophe by closing a simple little gap.
Let’s be women of action today, women who choose to fill their time and days with what truly matters. Rely on His grace to guide you to be come women of the Lord.
